Community Home Project Hosts Free Life Skills Workshop Series, April 2-30

The Community Home Project (CHP), an initiative of the Marion County Hospital District, is hosting a free Life Skills Workshop Series on Thursdays starting April 2, 2026, through Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 5-7 p.m., at the Howard Academy Community Center, 306 NW 7th Ave., in Ocala, Florida, 34475. This series is designed to support individuals and families in building healthy habits for everyday life.


Basic life skills are the foundation for long-term success at home, at work, and in the community. This workshop is about creating sustainable habits that support healthier, more balanced lives by providing participants with tools they can immediately apply to strengthen personal well-being, family relationships, and daily routines.

The interactive classes focus on practical, real-life topics that promote overall wellness and stability, including:

  • Healthy boundaries

  • Effective communication

  • Mental health awareness

  • Self-care strategies

  • Nutrition and healthy eating habits

  • Budgeting and financial basics

  • Healthy habits at home

Founded in 1965 by the Florida Legislature, the mission of the Marion County Hospital District is to connect Marion County residents with resources that support community-focused wellness and health. This goal is accomplished through strategic initiatives that invest in public health projects that improve the health and well-being of Marion County residents. MCHD also creates specific initiatives which impact prioritized health concerns and promote healthier lifestyles of Marion County residents through the AMP, FANS, the Community Home Project and Beacon Point.
