Playwright Robert Harling wrote the beloved “dramedy” Steel Magnolias as a way to deal with his sister’s death. It premiered in 1987 and quickly grew beyond its Southern origins into a worldwide modern classic on both stage and screen. Join us for a spirited salon on the story behind this true tale of tears and laughter! Held in Studio A, this free, “no reading required” book club with R.J. Jenkins of the Marion County Literacy Council is a fascinating hour of insights. Space is limited. RSVP by 9 p.m. on Friday, March 20.
